Description

NGC 4565 is an edge on spiral galaxy lying around 30-50 MLy's away in the constellation Coma Berenices.  It was discovered in 1785 by William Herschel.  Observations by the Spitzer Space Telescope determined that it has a central bar.  The small galaxy to the lower right of NGC 4565 is NGC 4562, a barred spiral galaxy.  I couldn't find any information on whether NGC 4562 is interacting with NGC 4565 but its distance at around 37 MLy's away put it in the same neighborhood as NGC 4565 so I suppose interactions are a possibility.
